Itinerary
Day OneArrive & Meet
🌞 Arrive in Cairo via either Cairo International Airport or Sphinx International Airport. There are no scheduled activities for today, giving you time to relax and settle in after your journey. Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hostel, where you’ll check in and have the rest of the day at your own pace.
🌙 If you arrive earlier in the day, we’ll gather in the evening to grab a casual dinner together — nothing formal, just good food, a first taste of Cairo, and a chance to meet everyone before the adventure really begins.
Day TwoThe Grand Pyramid Scheme
🌞 Visit the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World, aka the legendary Pyramids of Giza followed by a tour of the magnificent, newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum, home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian treasures ever displayed.
🌙 Explore Downtown Cairo and sample delicious local street food while visiting some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. End the day with drinks at a local bar, getting to know your fellow travelers along the way.
Day Three5,000 years of history and culture
🌞 Begin the day with a visit to the iconic Cairo Citadel, a magnificent medieval fortress that has stood watch over the city for centuries. Explore its impressive walls, courtyards, and mosques, including the stunning Mosque of Muhammad Ali, and enjoy panoramic views across Cairo. Continue to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where we will journey through thousands of years of Egyptian history from prehistoric times through the Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic, and modern eras. The highlight of the visit is the Royal Mummies Hall, home to Egypt’s most famous kings and queens.
🌙 Egypt is truly “the gift of the Nile,” as famously described by the Greek historian Herodotus—and you’ll quickly see why. Experience the beauty of the Nile River at night as you take in the fresh air, savour delicious food, and unique sceneries of Cairo.
Day FourPalaces and Buffets
🌞 Visit the Baron Palace, one of Cairo’s more unusual landmarks, known for its striking architecture and slightly mysterious history. Inspired by Hindu temple design, the palace stands out completely from its surroundings and offers a different glimpse into Egypt’s past beyond the usual ancient sites. After exploring the palace and its gardens, we’ll head out for a relaxed Friday Egyptian buffet lunch — a great chance to try a variety of local dishes and take a break before continuing the day. Attire for the lunch is smart casual. We will also visit Fair Trade Egypt, a store dedicated to authentic, handmade products created by artisans from all over the country. Everything here is locally made, offering a chance to take home souvenirs that truly represent Egyptian craftsmanship and support the people behind it.
🌙 Spend some time in Maadi, a quieter and more laid-back side of Cairo that feels completely different from the city’s usual pace. Known for its leafy streets, cafés, and relaxed atmosphere. If time allows, and depending on Cairo’s famously unpredictable traffic, we may also catch the sunset from one of the Nile’s islands.
