Frequently Asked Questions about Egypt
-
The best time to visit Egypt is usually October to April, when the weather finally chills out a bit. It’s cooler, generally warm, and sometimes even a little cold, basically perfect for staring up at the Pyramids without melting.
Summer (May to September, especially July & August) on the other hand can be REALLY hot. The good news is that the air is very dry, air-conditioning is everywhere, there are fewer tourists, and prices tend to drop. So, it’s still a good time to visit if, in my opinion, you just skip the southern cities like Aswan and Luxor where temperatures rise to insane levels.
That said, summer is actually a great time to head to Egypt’s eastern coast along the Red Sea. The water is warm, underwater visibility is fantastic, and steady summer winds create great conditions for water sports like diving and kitesurfing.

Icelandic citizens are eligible to apply for an Egyptian e-Visa through the official government website:
For travelers of other nationalities, please check the official website for the most up-to-date entry requirements and full visa details.
Please note that it is the traveler’s responsibility to ensure all visa requirements are met and that the appropriate visa is obtained before departure.
A visa on arrival is also available for some nationalities; however, we strongly recommend applying for the e-Visa in advance to avoid long queues and potential delays at the airport.
Egypt does not routinely require vaccinations for entry for travellers from Europe.
Yellow fever vaccination is only required if you’re coming from—or transited through—a country where yellow fever is a risk (mostly parts of Sub-Saharan Africa and some parts of South America).

Egypt uses Type C and Type F electrical outlets (the standard two-round-pin European plugs). The voltage is 220V and the frequency is 50Hz.
If your devices use a different plug type (such as UK, US, or other non-European plugs), you will need a plug adapter. Most modern electronics (phones, laptops, cameras) are dual-voltage, but it’s always a good idea to check your charger to ensure it supports 100–240V.
We recommend bringing a universal travel adapter for convenience.

You’re in luck — you’re traveling with us. While most Egyptians don’t speak good English, you won’t be navigating it alone. Our local friend will be there as your translator and interpreter, helping you communicate smoothly and confidently throughout the trip.
We’ll also provide you with a list of the most useful Egyptian Arabic words and phrases — and yes, a few fun insults too — so you can start practicing before departure and show off your new skills once you arrive.

The sooner, the better!
Egypt is a wonderful destination year-round, but the ideal timing depends on your comfort with heat.
If you prefer to avoid extreme high summer temperatures, we recommend steering clear of July, August, and September. For those eager to explore southern Egypt and immerse themselves in its magnificent history, October to April is the perfect time.
That being said, every season in Egypt offers its own unique charm. This is why we carefully design our itineraries to match the weather conditions, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience — especially for travelers from cooler climates or anyone not fond of extreme heat.

Each escapade has its own chilli scale. One chilli 🌶️ means the trip is very, very chill and relaxing, with lots of time to unwind and reset. Five chillis 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ means that your days will be physically demanding, packed full of adventure, but you will enjoy it because you brought this upon yourself.

As our trips typically do not include international flights, travelers are responsible for booking their own flights to the starting destination.
In most cases, your first stop will be Cairo, and we therefore recommend booking a flight to either Cairo International Airport or Sphinx International Airport — both of which serve the city.
Some of our trips include airport pickup, while others do not. Regardless, we will always provide you with all the necessary information and guidance to ensure a smooth arrival.
If you choose to land at an airport outside of Cairo, we will gladly assist you by arranging your transfer when possible, or by providing detailed instructions to help you reach Cairo safely and comfortably.
