Meet the founders Ahmed and Konni

The Wandering Sphinx is a licensed Icelandic travel company, based in Iceland, founded by Ahmed, an Egyptian who lived in Iceland for nearly six years, and Konni, an Icelander.

Today, while the company remains Icelandic-based, Ahmed is residing in Egypt and personally overseeing our trips on the ground. This means we don't simply plan your journey from afar — we're there to make sure everything runs smoothly, from the moment you arrive until you fly home.

Traveling to Egypt as an Icelander

Our connection to both countries directly shapes how we design our trips.

We understand Egyptian culture from the inside, while also understanding the Icelandic and Nordic way of travelling. We know that many Icelanders value independence, personal space, and having time to themselves, so our trips are designed to give you both shared experiences and breathing room.

Inclusivity

We also want our trips to be welcoming to LGBTQ+ travelers. We provide practical information about local customs, appropriate behavior, and situations where a little extra awareness or discretion can help you avoid unnecessary attention and enjoy your trip comfortably.

In other words, we don't just take Icelanders to Egypt. We understand both sides and are there on the ground to make the experience as smooth, comfortable, and authentic as possible.
